Mini-pupillage vacancies
A listing of mini-pupillages at barristers' chambers featured in Chambers Student.
Find out more about virtual work experience opportunities at the Bar.
A mini-pupillage – or 'mini' – is a great way to get a taste of the Bar. Minis are the Bar's equivalent of an internship or vacation scheme and last one to five days. Most minis are short and unassessed, so sets are usually able to offer between a dozen and several dozen mini-pupillages a year.
Below is the latest information on mini-pupillages at sets featured in Chambers Student. Sometimes you will see that the dates/deadlines indicated have already passed – these have been included when the equivalent deadline for next year is not yet known.
The majority of sets mentioned below state that mini-pupillages are intended for those who have already studied some law – i.e. second-year law students and above and GDL students and above. Exceptions may be made, for example for those intending to begin the GDL in the following academic year. Some sets state that their minis are for students of any discipline – these include 2 Bedford Row, 5 Essex Court, Falcon Chambers, Outer Temple, Quadrant Chambers and 1 Hare Court. Either way you will be expected to have some demonstrable interest in a career at the Bar. Check with individual chambers for their exact criteria.
While all sets featured in Chambers Student offer minis, be aware that some only offer them as part of the pupillage application process rather than to a broader audience. Minis are usually unpaid, though travel and accommodation expenses may be covered.
The information below was either provided directly to Chambers Student or taken from sets' website. Please double check dates and deadlines directly with sets before applying.
