Graduates say...

...on the teaching:

It was really well organised; they have clearly done it for a while. You know what you need to do, and they point you in the right direction. The tutors are very switched-on.”

I thought it was a really good course. The teachers are former practising lawyers and bring the course to life. There are opportunities to do pro bono work.”

The lecturers were there to help you develop, not just make it onto a training contract.”

Forward-thinking and novel.”

"I enjoyed all of the lectures, though the university is quite slow at getting results back to you. I had to wait three months for a result at one time."

"One of the modules was a student law clinic which was very good – practical and hands on."

"The thing that attracted me to Northumbria was the practical elements of the course. In the student law office students work in pairs on real cases."

...on the facilities:

The campus was particularly impressive – very modern, bright and shiny.”

It’s absolutely phenomenal – they spent millions of pounds on it and it’s bang up to date in this fantastic modern building.”

Facilities are pretty swish and students on both courses have the opportunity to work on live cases at the student law office, which is part of a module. Students are also offered a choice between a work mentor or a work placement to aid in their career prospects. While it has a good reputation among Northern practitioners, we don't hear from many Northumbria grads among our London trainee interviewees, but the university assures us it does send a few to City firms. This quibble aside, students here get a good deal of bang for their buck.
