Profile The City Law School is one of London’s major law schools offering an impressive range of academic and professional courses. The School was the fi rst law school in London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education. The School’s prestigious Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) has an unrivalled reputation within the profession and was one of the first courses for non-law graduates. The Graduate Enty LLB (GE LLB) enables non-law graduates to gain an LLB in just two years. Both courses enable progression to the required professional legal skills courses – the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), both taught at our Gray’s Inn Place campus, as well as the opportunity to become more specialised, by studying for a Masters of Law (LLM).

Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) (full time) Designed to enable non-law graduates to complete the first stage of professional training, this GDL is one of the largest and most respected GDL courses in the UK, and has a long-standing reputation with the Bar and a strong reputation amongst City law fi rms within the legal profession.

Graduate entry LLB (two years full time) This well established conversion course for non-law graduates provides students with the opportunity to gain the required basic law knowledge, whilst identifying and developing special interest subjects.

Bar Professional Training Course (full or part time) As the founding provider of the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) The City Law School will teach you the skills and knowledge that you need for life as a successful barrister and offer you the best possible chance of gaining pupillage. The course teaches you how to think and act like a barrister from day one through realistic cases that replicate the demands and discipline of life in chambers and extensive advocacy training. There is also a dedicated Pupillage Advisory Service exclusively for students, to help when applying for pupillage.

Legal Practice Course (full time) The School’s Legal Practice Course (LPC) has been designed to ensure that you are fully prepared to meet the demands of the modern legal profession by helping you to master the vital skills and knowledge you need to be a successful solicitor. On successful completion of the course you will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the opportunity to convert your fi nal award into an LLM in Legal Practice by writing an additional dissertation.

Master of Laws (LLM) (full time) The Masters of Laws (LLM) at The City Law School is a fl exible programme which enables students to develop a critical understanding of specialist or linked areas of the law. Students embarking on the LLM are able to select from a range of different module electives to gain a general Master of Laws, or choose electives from specifi c modules, to specialise in a particular area of law.
