Graduates say...

...on the teaching:

“I prefer face-to-face, hands-on training to remote learning, and Kaplan provided small classes with good contact hours.”

“All of my tutors were ex-City practitioners and I found their materials useful and effective.”

“The tutors had really good practical experience, which enabled them to give further depth to the course.”

“There's no archaic academic feel.”

...on the facilities:

“You couldn’t get materials in advance of class, and the timetable was unhelpful.”

...on getting a job:

“The careers service was the main reason I chose Kaplan.”

“The best thing about Kaplan was the excellent careers service.”

Chambers says...

Situated near trendy Borough Market, Kaplan is smaller than its London competitors and places a strong emphasis on face-to-face teaching. This gives the course a more personal feel, but watch out for those administrative issues. With an excellent careers service, Kaplan is a good option for those without training contracts, although most of the school's links are with smaller commercial firms rather than the magic circle.

College profile Kaplan Law School offers highly regarded professional postgraduate courses with excellent pass rates and a truly hands-on and proactive careers service. Face-to-face tuition is key; Kaplan’s teaching model is based around small groups to help student learning, as well as give tutors more contact time with each student. Our tutors are all qualifi ed lawyers with a proven track record in practice and legal education. At Kaplan we do not offer places to fill seats. Our strict admissions criteria ensures that all students on the course have a realistic chance of gaining a training contract. Our careers service is run by a former graduate recruiter, so we know exactly what law firms are looking for. Students can make weekly appointments and never need to send off an application until it has been checked. When students get through to the next stage of the application process, they will be given mock interviews bespoke to the fi rm they are interviewing at.

GDL: Graduate Diploma in Law (full time) Designed for any non-law graduate who intends to become a solicitor or barrister in the UK, with most teaching weeks taking place over three days giving students flexibility to work or make applications. Kaplan’s GDL places the academic subjects into a work related context so that students are more prepared for practice.

LLM LPC: LLM Legal Practice Course (full time) Awarded by Nottingham Trent University, the LLM LPC offers students the chance to develop a higher level of knowledge whilst gaining invaluable practical and commercial insight. Those sponsored by one of our client firms also participate in our Bridge to Practice course, an umbrella programme designed to get students ready for their training contract.

Careers & open events Kaplan runs a full programme of careers events throughout the year, designed to help you make the decision of whether to pursue law, give you the opportunity to meet people from the profession and in some cases bolster your CV. Alternatively students can visit for a guided tour and the opportunity to sit with our careers service to see how they will work with you. Students can bring with them an application they are working on.

Scholarships Kaplan offers a scholarship programme across all courses including one free place for the GDL and LPC.
