Different areas of legal practice

So you want to be a lawyer? Well sure, but what kind? After all, you'll see goalkeepers, strikers and referees on the football field, but their roles are all very different. The law is the just same.

You could become a corporate solicitor, arm yourself with a BlackBerry and a sharp suit and dash around all day talking to Very Important Clients. If you're a bookish, intellectual type, the life of a tax lawyer with its focus on black letter law might appeal to you more. Criminal solicitors live in an entirely different world, one in which advising potentially difficult or distressed characters is commonplace.
